Our Curriculum Offer

At Northallerton School & Sixth Form College (NSSFC), our curriculum is carefully designed to be ambitious, coherent and inclusive. It is rooted in strong subject knowledge and structured to ensure that all students build powerful knowledge over time, develop key skills and are well prepared for the next stage of their education or employment.

Our curriculum is sequenced to ensure progression from Key Stage 3 through to Key Stage 5. It balances academic rigour with breadth, offering a strong core alongside a wide range of additional subjects that allow students to explore their interests and talents.

At Key Stage 3, students study a broad and balanced curriculum to ensure strong foundations across a wide range of disciplines.

At Key Stage 4, students build on their Key Stage 3 experience and select option subjects alongside their core qualifications.

Our Sixth Form offers a broad range of academic and vocational qualifications designed to prepare students for university, apprenticeships and employment.

Alternative and Enhanced Provision

We have three inclusion spaces operating in our school. These spaces support integration into the main-stream provision offered at Northallerton School & Sixth Form College. The intentions of each spaces are detailed below

The Phoenix Centre (TPC)

  • Blended education model with delivery of core subjects

     

  • Vocational qualifications through NOCN in horticulture, hair and beauty, and animal care

     

  • Strong focus on preparation for working life and employability skills

     

  • Thrive and resilience programmes to support personal development and emotional wellbeing

Learning Inclusion Centre (LinC)

  • Specialist SEND provision and tailored support

  • EAL support to improve language acquisition and curriculum access

  • Targeted academic and pastoral interventions to remove barriers to learning

School Within a School (SWAS)

  • Structured reintroduction to mainstream education following periods of absence

  • Bespoke support for students with SEMH needs

  • Small-group provision focused on reintegration, stability and engagement
